- Glaucoma
- SYMPTOMS of the most common form called Chronic Glaucoma is the loss of side
- vision which is slowly and progressive. Later loss of central vision and
- possibly blindness. Other signs may include the inability to adjust to the
- dark, frequent lens change, mild headaches or vague visual disturbances and
- seeing halos around lights. Acute Glaucoma symptoms may begin with reduced
- visual acuity, eye and head pain and seeing colored halos around lights. This
- may happen at intervals and then be followed by a sudden acute attack with
- nausea, vomiting, severe throbbing eye pain and rapid loss of sight.
- CAUSES. There is increased pressure within the eye which may cause damage to
- the optic nerve and retina.
- TREATMENT. Consult your ophthalmologist immediately.
- .Medication may be prescribed. Surgery may be required.
